Surely more than one you will come the need to make a photo slideshow with fades between them and move in After Effects, Memories on TV and such like. While this is not software that is designed exactly for this purpose (primarily by the lack of real time) and there are other software with which to do this much more easily, it is true that once accustomed to a program is very difficult to leave him to do something so simple.

More than a tutorial, this is the explanation of a technique that I can be of use when creating these slideshows easy in After Effects without creating not a single keyframe.

The technique involves creating a series of zero, each with a basic motion: zoom in, zoom out, panning left, panning right ... all with a constant speed then we will provide a basis to encourage the photos.

Null 1.Animar expressions

ENCOURAGE POSITION.

This is done with a simple expression applied to the parameter you want to animate:

t = time * 10;
x = value [0] + t;
y = 288;
[X, y]

Let us explain these variables to better understand what we are
t regulates the speed.
coordinate x is moving in the layer.
and is the coordinate in which no moves and can be located at any point, in this case is in the center of a composite PAL (576 / 2 = 288)
This expression applied to the position, would a constant movement to the right. We scale the velocity by raising the multiplier time (* 10, * 15, * 30 etc), if the value is negative, reverse the direction.

ENCOURAGE SCALE.

This same expression with few changes we can apply the scale and thus get no increases in size constantly, or what might be called zoom in, applied to a photo.

This would use the following expression for the parameter scale of zero:

t = time * 10;
x = value [0] + t;
y = value [0] + t;
[X, y]

Equating the parameters x, and we manage to scale proportionally. Subtracting the value t instead of adding it, which will be a zoom out.

In fact we will only have to configure these zero once, because this scheme will help us over and over again in our next compositions. Also you can download the sample composition of the end of this post where they are located and expressions.

Once this is completed we have a layered structure like this:

280510

It is appropriate to rename correctly null then link them to the layers we want to animate. To be effective nulls must also be present along the entire length of the composition.

2.Añadir and link images to zero

Once done you can add pictures to our membership. We give all the same length (this is optional) and we offset each other so that it is something like this: 280510b

Now we link the photo to a zero depending on the type of movement we want to give (zoom, pan ...). We will do this by dragging the tool to link the corresponding zero.

, sin parones ni acelerones, velocidad que también podemos variar a nuestro gusto tocando el valor multiplicador de la expresón que ya vimos antes. Once done with all the pictures, only have to adjust the position and scale we like in each case, without adding any key frame and all go at a constant speed without stoppages or accelerations, speed that we can vary our like playing expresón multiplier value that we saw earlier.

3.Añadir crossfades automatically to images

To finish our slideshow, add fades only required for each layer. Instead of manually animate opacity keyframes can opt to use one of many animation presets that offers After Effets.

I go into the Effects & Presets window / Behaviours / fade in + out frames.

When we automatically apply a fade-in and an output at the beginning and end of the layer with the length of frames that we indicate in the effect window. Moreover, by lengthening or shortening the layer, the melt will automatically adjust to the new position.

Here you can see a video of how would the composition. You can see the contours of zero (red squares) that are associated with images.

As you will know this week has been proclaimed to the four winds the new version of the Adobe software package. We will not list here the new Photoshop or After Effects since there are already many blogs that deal with it.
What did I leave is the impressive work of the Brazilian company Seagulls Fly in charge of making the video presentation of the famous suite from Adobe.

Ingluye one is making it.

Do not fail to visit the website of this company because they have really exceptional work.

All users of After Effects has ever found the need to render a composition and to continue working while in the program,

seemingly simple thing but After Effects does so easily. Yes, it can be done in a roundabout way and running a script or opening a command line.

Now with these applications created by Andrew Hake have it easier. This is Aeae and Aerender . The first of these utilities allows us to open multiple instances of After Effects at a time and able to work jumping from one to another, although it is not possible to cut or paste information from one application to another.

The second of these applications, Aerender allows us to render in the background without having to open the After Effects interface, not eating and extra memory. It just runs in a command window and dragging them compositions, after setting the render queue, the render in the background while we can continue working.

Here's a tutorial on its use:

A 10 to Andrew for giving us a bit our hours of rendering.

Thanks to Matt Silverman, Creative Director of Bonfire Labs , we can enjoy the video series Masters of Visual Effects, published 10 years ago originally on VHS and now are no longer for sale or available in digital format.

Matt has published on its space Vimeo digitized the tapes, which deal with concepts of composition, rotoscoping, tracking, keying, etc, and that despite the years are just as current. Some teachers like Ron Brickmann, Stu Scott Stewart Mashwitz or teach these concepts in these interesting chapters.

A spot recorded with an iPhone. This is the spot produced by an NGO that seeks to raise New York on the amount of food wasted in New York and the number of hungry in the city. Here are the piece:

Under the apparent simplicity involved say this spot is recorded entirely with an iPhone, there is a substantial technological framework. The prestigious studio The Mill , responsible for the audiovisual work as detailed in its web was made this spot.

Indeed the base sequence shot of the spot was shot entirely with an iPhone into a New York subway station. Later in postproduction CGI should be incorporated in this case was the crowd of apples that come in an avalanche of wagons of the train. presente en toda la escena provocan una distorsión difícil de salvar por los softwares de tracking así que The Mill ideó un “rig”o armazón de cámaras , en cocreto  tres Canon 5D MKII, que situadas fijas en la estación grababan sincronizadas en todo momento la posición del iPhone. For this integration was needed to make a tracking of the whole scene, which was quite difficult to do directly with the material recorded with the iPhone. The compression artifacts and the CMOS rolling shutter present in the whole scene cause a distortion difficult to save for tracking softwares so The Mill devised a "rig" or frame cameras, Canon 5D MKII cocreto three, which still placed at the station recorded synchronized at all times the position of the iPhone. This in turn was easy to locate by tracking software thanks to LED lights clearly marking its position in space. In this way the tracking is greatly simplifició although it was necessary to correct by hand, frame by frame as it happens almost always.

For realistic textured apples used an HDRI map generated by a camera 360 ° x180 °, in particular a SpheronVR which also has an amazing 26f stops, camera any day deserve an article on this blog.

This whole process can be seen in detail in this "breakdown"

Finally, post-production to mimic the compression artifacts and color correction did the rest to provide that sense of realism.

So, yes, a spot shot with an iPhone, but there is more behind it to get that "look random" cinéma vérité.

081209 Although this blog is dedicated mostly to everything related to technology and audiovisual postproduction, today I present a useful tool for pre-production processes. y en definitiva todos los recursos propios de cualquier producción audiovisual. This is Celtx , a free software that allows you to organize all tasks related to the preproduction of any audiovisual or entertainment. Celtx is an organizer that allows us to handle scripts, breakdowns, storyboards, filming dates, records of locations, actors, technical, etc ... and ultimately all own resources any audiovisual production.

It is a kind of production schedule allows us to keep on hand and updated each of these resources. Contains tools to make diagrams of the shots and camera setup, tools for creating story boards, shooting schedule, script editor ... this is recorded in a project that we can share with other users or recycled for new projects. It is available for Mac and PC and also in Spanish .

This is one of those little applications that may become indispensable for any editor. This is VideoSpace of Digital Heaven, a company specializing in applications and plugins for Final Cut. Although already an old acquaintance through plugins like Loader , this company has just released version 3 of this free application. With it you can calculate the space it will occupy in our record any video clip showing the codec, duration, fps and the type of audio. The novelty is that include new codecs supported by Final Cut 7.

It can also be installed as a widget on your Mac, iPhone or iPodTouch or may be viewed online at this link: http://www.videospaceonline.com/
